Pastor Laura Aull Johnston

I came home to the family of faith known as Westminster in 2003. We have the same priorities. A visit on a Sunday morning would quickly show you what these are: warm hospitality, thoughtful, down to earth worship, lovely music, and deep relationships. Care for our neighbors and our community flows from these. It’s a helpful balance to one who came into awareness of the world during the Civil Rights movement of the late sixties and felt driven for much of my life to change the world by myself if need be.

My educational background includes a doctorate degree in pastoral care and a certificate in spiritual direction. My husband and I have lived in the C-U area for over thirty years. He is a commissioned lay pastor as well as a retired college professor and administrator so he also preaches occasionally. We have no children of our own but dote on our nieces, nephews, and our church “kids”.

I am also crazy about tennis and play doubles year round. Going to Wimbledon was a highlight of my sabbatical in 2011. My study focus was small groups that promote health and included time at Berkeley and the isle of Iona in Scotland. That fall we launched a “writing for well-being” group that continues to meet on a weekly basis.

In all aspects of life and ministry at Westminster I feel supported by a team of dedicated, caring, and delightful folks. It makes this a church where I can thrive personally and be a part of something meaningful and life-giving for others, too.
